Wedding toasts are an essential part of any wedding celebration. They offer an opportunity for family members, friends, and other loved ones to express their love and support for the newlyweds, share funny stories and fond memories. It’s for sure one of our favorite parts of the reception! However, deciding who should speak at a wedding can be a tricky task.

There is etiquette involved in giving wedding toasts, and also guidelines in order to know who should speak.

The person who is hosting the wedding usually speaks first. This is often the bride’s father or mother. Technically it could be anyone though. At a typical wedding the host welcomes the guests, thanks them for attending, and offers a few words of congratulations to the couple. The host may also share some stories about the bride and groom and offer some advice on married life.

The next speaker is usually the best man. The best man offers a toast to the bride and groom and shares some heartfelt words about the couple. The best man may also share some stories about the groom and offer some advice on marriage. All the toasts at a wedding are aimed around the same thing, which is expressing love and congratulations to the newlyweds. The maid of honor would typically follow the best man… but it is your wedding and you can organize it however you would like!

When giving a toast,  people are expected to make them personal. Wedding toasts can get repetitive when people are constantly saying the same thing. People other than the best man and maid of honor who you could ask to give a speech are the parents of the newlyweds, siblings, and close friends. However, it is important to keep in mind that the number of toasts should be limited to a few, to prevent the guests from getting bored. Another way to prevent the guests from being bored is by choosing entertaining people to give the speeches. Some people are better at public speaking than others, and you should select certain people with that in mind. You should also make sure that the person is comfortable with public speaking and can deliver a heartfelt, engaging speech.

When it comes to who should speak at a wedding, it is important to consider the relationship of the person to the bride and groom. Close family members and friends who know the couple well are the best choices for wedding toasts.

Another important consideration is to make sure that the toasts are kept short and sweet. Long and rambling speeches can quickly become boring and take away from the enjoyment of the wedding reception. This can also take you away from the wedding time-frame, which is crucial. Hiring Finer Events & Co. if you live Temecula, CA, is a great option for you to be able to stick to your time-line. It is best to keep toasts to a maximum of five minutes.

Wedding toasts are an important part of any wedding celebration. The key to a successful toast is to choose the right people to speak and to keep the toasts thoughtful, short and sweet. With these guidelines in mind, the wedding reception is sure to be a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

My wife is very particular about details and no less than 10 different times did I hear her say the words, "Everything is perfect." So much of this came from the attention to detail that Vanessa provided for us. From the pre-planning to the placement of every single detail that we asked for, not a single thing was missed.
